Background
The National Skills Academy for Manufacturing is a central part of the government’s skills strategy. The Academy will focus on meeting the skills needs of both large and small employers from the manufacturing sector, including Aerospace, Automotive, Electronics and Marine.
The Academy will focus on meeting the skills needs of both large and small employers.
In the longer term it will also incorporate the science and technology sub-sectors such as the Biological and Medical Sciences, and Bio– and Nano-technology.
The Academy has been developed by employers with the backing of the Sector Skills Council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies Alliance (SEMTA) and other manufacturing organisations including Engineering Employers Federation (EEF), British Marine Federation (BMF), Metskill, Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Society of British Aerospace Companies (SBAC) and Intellect.
