Vision

Our vision is ‘to create a National Skills Academy for Food and Drink that will ensure the provision of learning and skills meets food and drink employers demands and contributes effectively to improving productivity and sector competitiveness’.

Measurably the National Skills Academy will aim to deliver new skills to at least 28,000 learners during its first four years.

To achieve this ambitious aim, the National Skills Academy will deliver bite-sized programmes of learning as well as full qualifications.

Measurably the National Skills Academy will aim to deliver new skills to at least 28,000 learners during its first four years.

Each qualification (part or full) will be recorded on the UK food and drink skills passport (the Green Card). This will encourage individuals to maintain their lifelong commitment, provide transportability of all learning and over time provide valuable data on employee progression and participation.

The National Skills Academy will contain a network of Academy Training Centres, supported by a central e-based hub. The number of Academy Centres is expected to grow to at least 35 in 3 years (including public and private training providers and employers), enabling sector employees to have their skills needs delivered as and when they require at a location to suit their needs.
