Employer sponsorship
Employer sponsorship is already expected to deliver £3.38m for the National Skills Academy for Food & Drink.
A further £500k of in-kind investment has been donated by employers to generate the Academy business plan and an outline figure of £5.3m has been identified for employers to buy e-learning products.
Therefore, the total forecast to date from employer sponsorship is in excess of £8 million over 4 years.
Training provider resource and provision
In addition to the significant employer cash contribution, the Academy is also supported by a unique network of training providers from across England. Each of these centres has gained a national accolade to demonstrate their commitment to the Academy through the production and delivery of sector required training programmes.
The first tranche of seven Academy Centres are:
- Poultec Training in Dereham will launch as a centre of specialist learning for meat and poultry food manufacturing skills.
- Peter Rowley Ltd, based in Grimsby, will be a specialist in lean manufacturing techniques.
- Johnson Diversey in Northampton has earned a national accolade as a centre of specialist learning for hygiene skills in food manufacturing.
- The University of Lincoln, Holbeach Campus will focus on specialist learning for skills in manufacturing chilled ready meals.
- Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education is to be a specialist centre for fish-processing skills.
- Reaseheath College, Cheshire will specialize in skills and learning in the dairy industry.
- The Seafood Training Academy, specialising in seafood retail processing.
Four of the seven training providers have also developed plans for significant capital investment totaling 1.7m over the first four years of Academy operation.
