Employers
The major benefits of the National Skills Academy will undoubtedly be for employers across all sizes and types of organisation. As the Engineering Employers’ Federation noted in January 2006:
“A major skills survey of manufacturing companies published today shows widespread acceptance of the link between a more highly skilled workforce and improved performance, with two thirds of companies saying improving productivity was the main reason for increasing training.”
“The business benefits of training are clear and at Nissan we see a direct correlation between training and improvements in productivity.”
“The business benefits of training are clear and at Nissan we see a direct correlation between training and improvements in productivity.” Steve Pallas, Training and Development Manager, Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK
It provides a long-term solution to skills shortages and gaps which would otherwise threaten their continued productivity and economic success.
Department of Trade and Industry studies consistently show that employer-led learning in countries such as Germany, France and Scandanavia is the most successful approach to solving skills problems.
