Our vision
To play a major part in providing our workforce with the knowledge and skills they need to match the best in the world by 2010.
We do this by building a network of employer-led centres of excellence that will transform the landscape of skills training.
Quality will be our hallmark. We want National Skills Academies to be synonymous with:
- Excellent training
- Responding to the needs of the employer
- Innovation and creativity
- Leading-edge industry best practice.
“The National Skills Academy network will set a new standard for industry training.”
Chris Banks, Chairman, LSC
This is a challenging vision, but one to which the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and its partners–the Sector Skills Councils (SSC) and the Sector Skills Development Agency (SSDA), employers, public and private training providers, the Department for Education and Skills (DfES), and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–are fully committed.
Timeline
We are working to an ambitious timeline which aims to have National Skills Academies in 12 key sectors by 2008 and have an aspiration for a National Skills Academy in each major sector over time.
